On May 14, 2005, District 7 Commissioner William “Bill” Edwards addressed concerns regarding the potential financial and developmental impact of Sandy Springs’ incorporation on South Fulton. Speaking at a meeting held at the Georgia International Convention Center, Edwards outlined the possible effects on service delivery and development in the region he represents.

The event, attended by nearly 200 residents, also saw the participation of College Park City Councilman Tracey Wyatt. Edwards provided detailed information on various potential outcomes and fielded questions from the audience, aiming to inform and prepare South Fulton residents for the possible changes ahead. The discussion focused on ensuring that the community understood the implications of the proposed cityhood and explored options for mitigating any negative impacts.
